A Special Effects legend died today, the man responsible for the creation of some of the most awesome special effects creatures of ALL TIME.
Of course, I am talking about the great Ray Harryhausen.
This Giant of Special Effects and Artistic Genius was involved in some of the coolest movies ever made, and utilized his patented stop motion animation style, which though old fashioned, is nothing short of stunning and wonderful to watch. By shooting frame-by-frame shots of a miniature model, he breathed life in many awesome creatures such as Dinosaurs, the Ymir from "20 Million Miles to Earth", the original "Mighty Joe Young", various Greek Mythological monsters (like Talos, the Harpies, a Hydra, Medusa, and of course, the Kraken), and the fantastic creatures on the Voyages of Sinbad to name some!
Anyway, this man inspired tons of film makers and artisans throughout the ages and all over the world. And we will never forget his contributions to the history of cinema.
Rest in Peace Ray, and God Bless You, you were an inspiration to me and are responsible for some of the most awesome memories of my youth!
